Warren Laurel Swenson Jr., 78, of Kansas City, Missouri, died July 22, 2023.
Warren was born on March 3, 1945 to Martha Ann and Warren Laurel Swenson Sr. in Kansas City. Following his mother's death, his father married Ilah Plumb, who became a second mother to the family. In his youth, Warren was confirmed as a member of the Broadway Methodist Church and was active in Boy Scout Troop 50. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, earned the God and Country award, and rose to the rank of Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. After graduating from Southwest High School in 1963, he attended Kansas City Junior College before beginning a 35-year career with the City of Kansas City, retiring as a Project Manager in the Public Works Department. Warren enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and he never missed an opportunity to gather with friends. Above all, he delighted in spending time with his family and will be remembered for his positive attitude, willingness to help others, and generous heart.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ann Meinhardt, and brother Richard. He is survived by his brother Thomas and wife Jane, brother-in-law Bill Meinhardt, sister-in-law Jan Swenson, and several nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 28th followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64131.
