Wanda Smith, beloved by many, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on May 2, 1935, Wanda was known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to her Lord, family and friends.

Wanda was born in Mammoth Spring Arkansas to Ed & Iva Gibbs. She developed a deep love for the Lord and spent most of her life caring for the physical needs and spiritual support of family and friends. She spent her formative years in the cotton fields of Arkansas picking cotton to help support her family. She had a sister Lucille and brother JC as well as a half brother in California.

Wanda married Clyde Smith in 1950 and they enjoyed a loving and supportive marriage until his passing in 2009. Together, they raised three wonderful children Clyde E. Smith, Kathy (Smith) Binney and Terry Smith, who were the pride and joy of Wanda's life. She was a devoted grandmother to Christopher Smith, Lindsay Smith , Erin Binney, Chris Ebersold and Ryan (Cody) & Daisy Binney always putting her family's needs before her own. Wanda loved spending time with her family, whether it was through family gatherings, vacations, fishing or simply enjoying the family meals she often prepared.

Wanda was an active member of her community at Beaumont Baptist Church in Kansas City Mo. Enjoying friends and giving inspiration to a special group at the church called the Jolly Elders. Wanda and Clyde moved to Temple Hights a senior apartment building in 2004. During the 18 years she lived there she was took part in the Tenant Association welcoming new residents. She also was part of a Sunday morning worship service at the building for those that could not drive or get to a service on their own. Until Clyde’s death in 2009 they were part of a group that held a Sing Along every Thursday night for the tenants. She never met a stranger and was always availble to offer assistance, care and thoughtful gestures. Wanda's selflessness and dedication to helping others earned her the admiration and respect of everyone who knew her.

Wanda's legacy is one of love, kindness, and dedication to others. She leaves behind a lasting impact on the lives of those she touched, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Wanda is survived by her son Clyde Edward, Daughter Kathy, Grandaughters Erin & Daisy and Grandsons Cody and Chris. As well as Barry Crawford who Wanda & Clyde loved as if he was their son.

She has now joined with all those family members she loved and great friends that went on before her. We will forever hold her in our hearts, remembering the remarkable woman she was and the lasting legacy she leaves behind. She will be missed but never forgotten.
