Robert "Bob" Haigh, age 80, devoted husband and loving father, passed away after losing his battle with cancer on April 24, 2016. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in June 2015. Bob was born April 29, 1935 in Osawatomie Kansas to Orie "Bud" Armstrong Haigh and Eva Verdier Haigh. Bob graduated from Osawatomie High school in 1953 and in 1958 earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Kansas. He was a member of AKL fraternity. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran and was enlisted from 1958-1961. He loved music, dancing, art, and sports. He was an experimental aircraft enthusiast and a Boy Scout leader. Bob retired from AT&T Technology in 1993 after a 25 year career with AT&T. He was an active member of the Unity Village Chapel and a member of the Men of Unity. Bob was active in the community after his retirement, volunteering in the Lee's Summit area delivering meals to the elderly for over 10 years and helping many other charitable organizations.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Orie and Eva Haigh and his sister Eleanor Manly. He is survived by his wife Joan (Rusinko) Haigh; son Ron (Jamie) Haigh of Castle Rock; CO; daughter Susan (Tod) Hughes of Lee's Summit, MO; 3 grandchildren; and a sister Marie Ann Wicke of Olathe, KS. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on May 7th 2016 at the Silent Unity Chapel, Unity Village, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
