Richard 'Rick' Wright

November 18, 1944 — April 9, 2020

Richard (Rick) John Wright passed away April 9, 2020 after a valiant fight with Parkinson's Disease.

Rick was born in Ellensburg, Washington on November 18,1944 to John C. Wright Jr. of Buffalo, New York and Barbara Pfenning Wright of Ellensburg.  He grew up in Birmingham, Michigan. Rick received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and later he earned a master's degree in Business Administration from The University of Southern California. Rick spent the first 25 years of his career in the Aerospace industry and then in 1996 bought a manufacturing business in Middletown, Connecticut.  Rick led Royal Display for 18 years until he retired in 2014, subsequently moving to Overland Park, KS in 2019.

Rick will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and caring friend.  An eternal optimist, even in the face of adversity, Rick led by example and looked for the best in every situation and person he encountered.  This trait not only helped in his battle with Parkinson’s, but also left a lasting impression on those who knew him best.

In addition to Claudia, his wife of 46 years, Rick leaves a son Adam (Kari) of Overland Park, a sister, Laurie Kingsley (Ward Rafferty) of Solvang CA, a nephew John David Wright (Elizabeth) of Richmond VA, and a niece Christina Wright Craig of Milwaukee, WI.; and his precious grandchildren Owen and Tessa Wright. Rick was preceded in death by his brother David.
