Richard Donald "Don" McNevin passed away peacefully on January 30, 2019. He was born September 19, 1948 to Zaida and Richard E. McNevin. He served 3 years in Vietnam with the Army, earning a Bronze Star Medal with "V" device for heroism while serving as squad leader with Company D, 1st Battalion Airborne, 8th Cavalry. He left the Army in 1969 having obtained the rank of Staff Sargent and earning 2 purple hearts for injuries that would affect him for the rest of his life. He was a generous and loving father and grandfather. In his own words, he is leaving behind 3 beautiful grandchildren (Ryan, Taylor, and Dylan) and 2 daughters (Robin Richmond, Holly McNevin) that always made him proud. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters (Barbara, Sheryl) and 1 brother (Robert). No services are planned. Inurnment will be at 11am sharp on February 8, 2019 at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
