Melvin Walker, 91, of Kansas City, MO passed away November 13, 2021. Graveside services will be Monday, November 22 at 2:00p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, KS.
Melvin Leroy Walker was born July 31, 1930 in Horton, Kansas to Milton and Anna (Loyd) Walker. He moved to Kansas City, KS with his parents at the age of 7 and remained there throughout his life. Melvin served in the US Army and fought in Korea. He was active in the Boy Scouts for over 75 years and was an avid stamp and coin collector. He collected his family’ genealogy records throughout his life. Melvin was employed at the Kansas City stockyards for 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lou (Briner) Walker; brothers, James and Lloyd Walker; sisters, Verna Elliot and Colleen Steele. Melvin is survived by his brother Ralph (Karlene), sister Dorothy Boone, numerous nieces and nephews and his friends at Peace Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Staff Scholarship Fund at Theodore Naish Scout Reservation 1100 Martinek Ln. Kansas City, KS 66111.
