Marjorie Ann Davenport, 82, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away Sept. 3, 2022 after a short
battle with cancer.
She was born to the late Robert Ewing and Anna Laura Davenport, March. 17, 1940 in Kansas
City, Mo. Margie graduated from Brookfield High School in 1958 and studied briefly at the
University of Colorado.
In her early adulthood, Margie worked as a hostess for TWA and was also involved in the earliest
ventures into information technology as a key-punch operator. She spent time in Germany and
Italy. Margie had an appreciation for jazz music and loved to dance. Her outgoing nature enabled
her to excel at demonstrating products for local grocery stores.
Margie loved to bake and was known for her sugar cookies and banana bread, which she gifted
to friends and family every holiday. She enjoyed hunting for deals at garage sales and decorating
her apartment with found treasures. She wrote letters to loved ones often, usually including
quarters as gifts for her grand nephews and nieces, whom she enjoyed watching swim in the pool
at Kenilworth Apartments.
A lifelong crafter, Margie was known for creating plush pumpkins and other holiday themed
items, which she sold at craft fairs and gave to loved ones. She found joy in caring for her
neighbor’s dog, working puzzles, and never hesitated to donate to a worthy cause.
Margie is survived by her brother, Wayne Davenport (Julie) of Little Rock, Ark., and four
nephews, Bob Davenport (Rachael), Tom Davenport (Michelle), Alex Davenport (Jeni), and
Steffen Davenport (Liz). Margie was predeceased by her mother Anna; father Robert; nephew,
John; brother, Larry; and sister-in-law, Margit.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Flowers are
welcome and can be sent to the Family at 406 E. 176th St., Belton, MO 64012.
