Kevin Richard Miller, age 58, of Kansas City, Missouri, cherished son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, November 18, 2023.
Born in Emporia, Kansas, February 22, 1965, to Philip W. Miller and Linda Miller Rei, he lived in Kansas, Iowa, and Maryland before his family settled in Kansas City, MO in 1976.
He attended LSU Shreveport, however Kevin’s lengthy career began in the 1980’s when he started his own technology company to provide some of the first computer services to local Kansas City businesses. He was skilled in developing and supporting technology accounting systems for businesses, and websites. His patience and attention to detail helped drive his success. Many of his clients also became long-time friendships.
Kevin’s love of fine foods led him to also spend many years as the chef / co-founder of The Palatable Pair, selling his well-loved chutneys as packaged gourmet foods on a national level. He could even occasionally be found cooking on the side in area restaurants.
Kevin proudly followed in his father and grandfather’s artistic footsteps with a strong passion for the arts. He wrote poetry, played violin, was an avid art collector, and had an expansive musical palette. Some would even say his yard was a work of art.
He also ensured that his children were instilled with an appreciation for the arts.
Kevin loved his family, and as “Papa”, his biggest source of joy and pride was his children.
Kevin is survived by his four beloved children, Philip Brooks (Frankki), Charles James, Hattie Evelyn, and Ella Rose; his mother Linda Miller Rei; his siblings, Darren (Vicki Brooks), Meredith (Darick) Robertson, Alison (James Brent) Remer; his nieces and nephews, Ryan (Sarah), Alec, Gwendolyn, James Rhys, Andrew, Ian, Lily, and Winn; and his Uncle James (Brenda) Turner; step-mother Nancy Eldredge; step-siblings, Jamie Eldredge (Matthew Kirk), and Carrie (Matt) Weinhold; and step-nephews, Axel and Lyle.
Kevin is also survived by his former wives, mother of his children, and friends, Dana (Fries Jackson), and Susan (Marks) Miller; and his beloved dogs Maggie and Massimo. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Philip Winn Miller, and grandparents.
A celebration of life gathering will take place on January 6, 2024. Details below.
The family requests that any remembrances on behalf of Kevin’s four children be payable to Hattie Miller, 6848 Locust St. Kansas City, MO 64131, or via paypal.me/hattieemm12.
