Karen D. Schorling, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Kansas City Hospice House. Karen’s home was DeSoto, Kansas. She was born August 5, 1939 in Salina, Kansas to Roy “Red” Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor. She was a 1947 graduate of Chapman High School. She played softball and was pitcher on her High School Softball Team. Karen was Sweetheart Queen in 1946. She was Administrative Assistant and worked in the Property Department at the Overland Park Police Department. She retired at 64 in 2003. She truly enjoyed spending time with her twin daughters and her grandson, watching the Jayhawks, dancing, and listening to jazz. She is survived by sisters, Rea Tedder and LoEllen Hoffman; brother, Roy Taylor; daughters Kelly Hansen and Shelly Schmidt; and grandson, Coulter Schmidt.
