James Waldman, Sr.

   James A. (Jim) Waldman, Sr., age 94, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on November 20, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 30, 2023, at St. Thomas More Church, Kansas City, Missouri.

  Jim was born June 27, 1929, the son of John and Mildred Waldman, in Canton, Massachusetts. He grew up in Canton, Brockton, and Sharon, Massachusetts, attending Sharon High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in Korea.

   Jim had a long career in hotel and restaurant management taking him throughout the country and culminating in his dream job of Food Service Director for Fort Osage School District until his retirement in 1996.

    Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche, second wife, Arlene, sister, Edna Howard, and two grandsons, Christopher Borgmeyer and John Waldman. He is survived by his children, Jay Waldman (Betsy) of Independence, Missouri and Wendy Borgmeyer (Craig) of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Alex Waldman (Nicole), Sally Soetaert (Dan), Bethany Reyna (Nick), Beth Clarkson (Jeremy), and Hannah Borgmeyer; and two great-grandchildren, Teddy Soetaert and Frankie Soetaert. Also surviving is his sister, Joan Mendes of Crossville, Tennessee, and many nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.
