Dave Wisby, 88, of Leawood, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on March 12, 2025.
Born on October 16, 1936, in Detroit, Dave was the son of Alfred and Audrey (Grape) Wisby. He was raised in the Detroit/Dearborn area where he attended primary and secondary schools. An avid sports enthusiast, Dave excelled in football and baseball at Fordson High School in Dearborn. He then attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, on a football scholarship. Following service in the U.S. Marines in Korea, he completed his degree in business from Wayne State University. He began his professional journey at Ford Motor Company, where he progressed through the management ranks, eventually relocating to St. Louis. He later joined Kenworth Truck Company, retiring as a district manager in 1999.
Dave and his wife Jeanne split their time between Kansas City and Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada, cherishing their friendships and life on Lake Huron.
While his family was his greatest joy, Dave was also a passionate supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Kansas Jayhawks, and Detroit Red Wings. He took immense pride in his children: his son, Chris, an engineer for Audi, whom Dave often praised for his professional accomplishments and his role as a father; his son, Jason, owner of a successful sports enterprise specializing in hockey and other ice sports; and his daughter, Ingrid, who provided steadfast care and support, particularly after the passing of his beloved wife, Jeanne. Dave deeply cherished his son-in-law, Doug, who was instrumental in helping him transition after his wife’s passing.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Jeanne. He is survived by his three children, son Chris; son Jason and his wife Jenny; and daughter Ingrid and her husband Doug Maddock; as well as three grandchildren, Nicholas, Rachel, and Alexander; and two great-grandchildren, Asher and Otto.
The family extends their gratitude to the dedicated caregivers and support staff of Cross Creek at Lee’s Summit, Missouri, for their exceptional care of Dave over the past year. The family considers them part of Dave’s extended family.
Those who knew and loved Dave will remember him as a humorous, kind-hearted, and generous individual with a profound love for his family and deep faith and commitment to God.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made either to the Greater Michigan chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/gmc) or Sisters of the Crown (https://www.findingbeautiful.org/give).
