Carol Ann (Milnes) Poindexter entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 28, 2018.
She was born in Menomonie Wisconsin on December 11, 1923, daughter of Harold and Mabel Milnes. She was married in February of 1946 to her husband and faithful companion for 63 years, Henry Pratt Poindexter of Kansas City Missouri.
She attended The Stout Institute in Menomonie and graduated in 1945 with a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. Following college, she became a stewardess for United Airlines flying from Denver to San Francisco and back. It was in Denver that Carol met Henry, a First Lieutenant for the Army Air Corps, who was ferrying planes from Denver to Kansas City. After a brief courtship they married and moved to Kansas City where they started their family.
Carol served her community in many ways through the Saint Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary, the Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church Guild, the Delano Library, Kansas City Young Matrons, and The Lyric Opera.
Carol loved hosting dinner parties for family and friends, which included a bridge club that met monthly. She and Hank would vacation at their home in Colorado Springs every summer and enjoyed entertaining, swimming and hiking. As an avid gardener she could grow just about anything and had many hobbies that she passed on to her children.
Carol’s greatest love was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, which He used to sanctify her family, all eventually coming to saving faith in Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, her son, Harry, granddaughter, Abigail Anderson, her brother, Jack, and sister, Betty Peterson. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth “Buff” Martin (Frank), Diane Anderson (Kirk), daughter-in-law, Debbie Poindexter, and son, Donald (Rebecca), as well as twenty-two grand-children and ten great-grand- children.
