Bruce Krueger

July 26, 1956 — August 13, 2021

Bruce A. Krueger August 13, 2021 Lee’s Summit, Missouri – Bruce was born on July 26, 1956, to Melvin and Clara (Joan) Krueger in Atlantic, IA.  He attended Grace College of the Bible from 1974-1978 in Omaha, NE where he met and married Ellen Maher.  Together they had two daughters Megan and Katie.  Bruce went on to receive a master’s degree from Webster University.

Bruce proudly served our country for 21 years in the United States Navy (8 years active, 13 years reserves).  His time in the military included tours to Korea, Bahrain, Kuwait and lastly Iraq – in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He was an excellent shipmate to those who served alongside him.  We as his family are so proud of his military accomplishments and service.

Throughout his life Bruce was involved in various churches and organizations as he pursued his journey of Christian faith.  He highly valued the friendships and mentorships that touched his spiritual walk.

One of Bruce’s favorite pastimes was dancing!  In 2013 he ventured into the world of ballroom dancing and quickly fell in love with it and the people.  Contra dance, swing dance, square dance, the waltz – he did it all!

Bruce retired from the Kansas City Public Library in 2019 after 17 years.  He was known by his friends and co-workers as someone who could always make them laugh. Bruce would typically ride the bus every day to work from Lee’s Summit to downtown Kansas City.  Over the years he made countless “bus friends” whom he would enjoy chatting with during the 30-minute ride.  Bruce was an excellent conversationalist and loved to connect with strangers by quickly getting them to laugh.

Since his retirement, Bruce has thoroughly enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and participating in a local Patriot Guard Rider group – a group of bikers and other citizens that attend the funerals of veterans and first responders. He found great fulfillment in participating in these rides.

Bruce is survived by his eldest brother Larry (Cassy) Krueger (Kansas City, MO), younger brother Steven (Rana) Krueger (Council Bluffs, IA), daughters Megan Davila (Lee’s Summit, MO) and Katherine (Aaron) Rustici (San Antonio, TX), and grandchildren Sydney Davila, Samuel Davila and Innocenzo Rustici.

Branch St. Platte City, MO 64079.  This will be an informal gathering of Bruce’s friends and family where we can grieve together, share our favorite stories of him and celebrate his life.  Floral arrangements can be sent to Rollins Funeral Home.
